The purple skydrop is a rare type of flower. It is star-shaped and is pollinated primarily by black-winged sparrows. Because it requires direct sunlight, its range in the past has been limited to a few open meadows within Sylvan State Forest. Recently, however, hundreds of trees in Sylvan Forest were destroyed by a blight and were removed by park rangers. If the blight continues to spread, it is probable that the range of the purple skydrop will expand into the new open meadows created by the removal of the trees.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously weakens the argument?

  • AEven if the blight continues to create more meadows, a number of purple skydrops will still perish in early frosts. 分析该选项
  • BBlack-winged sparrows nest only in the trees being devastated by the blight. 分析该选项
  • CA number of other flowers within Sylvan State Forest grow in the same conditions as the purple skydrop. 分析该选项
  • DThe blight affects a certain type of tree found only in Sylvan State Forest. 分析该选项
  • EIf the blight continues to spread, other plants that compete with the purple skydrop will also move into the new meadows. 分析该选项
